This week started off rough with me being slightly under the weather with a sore throat, turning into me becoming hoarse, and now residing into coughing; Monday was probably the worst, with bodily aches accompanying my sore throat. So I didn’t end up running until Thursday, Thanksgiving Day AND Turkey Trot day, not to mention the first day of the Runner’s World Run Streak: Winter Edition! I guess those three days without runs was a much needed rest to prepare me for running everyday until New Years, but I also need the rest as well to feel better since I worked a TON this week.
Thursday: 3.1 Turkey Trot 5K
Friday: 1 mile @
Saturday: 1 mile @
Sunday: 4 miles @ 8:49/mi
The Turkey Trot is without a doubt one of my favorite runs of the year. Sadly, no medals for our local race, but it’s a favorite regardless. I wish I would have started running it sooner, but this is only my third consecutive year running it. It’s certainly becoming quite a tradition between me and my family and I’m not complaining about that. Earn your turkey!
Every year for the past couple years, I have tried to complete the Run Streak, but I always ended up missing a day and ruining the whole streak. Last year, I was marathon training at the time and didn’t think it was a good idea for my body, being that I was already in the peak month of training, the mileage racking up; my body just didn’t need a straight month of running. But this year, I am determined not to fail. I am fresh out of marathon training, with not much else to do or train for, so why not? I’m currently off to a good start..
Stay tuned for my Runner’s World Run Streak updates! Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to everyone!
