A motivational Monday post of sorts, for me especially, and hopefully for my fit fashionista runner readers as well.
     My love of running has grown tremendously over the years, ever since my soccer and Cross Country days, and the Boston Marathon is high up on my Bucket List. I recall vividly exactly where I was when I read the news about the bombing of the 2013 Boston Marathon. I saw it first on my Twitter feed. It is a day that will always be remembered, especially by us runners. I was not there, but Boston has always held a special place in my heart; I am a huge Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins fan, and a runner besides. The tragic events have only made me want to train and run the marathon even more. And that’s exactly what I going to try to do.
     I finally put a half-marathon under my belt this past January, so hopefully training for a full will come easier than my mind is thinking it will. It will takes lots of self-discipline and motivation, lots of sweat and tears, and it’s certainly going to take a marathon or how ever many necessary for me to actually qualify. The current qualifying time for my age group (18-34) is 3:35. It took me 2:25 to run a half!! Clearly, I lots of work to do, but I know already it will be well worth the struggle.
     I was hoping to participate in next years Disney Princess Half-Marathon weekend, and I may still do so, even if it isn’t a marathon, not to mention one where you can quality for Boston by running. It’s something I want to do and will be great training for the big 26.2.
     Has anyone else trained and ran a full marathon, or is wanting to, and has some tips and experience to share?
